Jon’s practice includes domestic and foreign patent preparation and prosecution, patent opinions, intellectual property litigation (including patent infringement actions, Inter Partes Review and Post Grant Review proceedings before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board at the United States Patent and Trademark Office, and both state and federal court actions), domestic and foreign trademark prosecution, trademark opinions, copyrights, trade secrets, rights of publicity, intellectual property evaluations/due diligence and drafting and negotiating technology and intellectual property agreements.

Jon has represented clients ranging from solo inventors and startups to global enterprises and is experienced in a variety of mechanical and electrical technologies, including wired and wireless telecommunications, robotics, biomedical devices, nanotechnology, automotive technology, manufacturing, sporting goods, materials science and medical instruments.

Jon has substantial experience directing the IP strategy for large corporations in the management and administration of intellectual property portfolios. Jonathan’s experience enables him to apply a comprehensive, cross-disciplinary approach to maximize the scope of intellectual property protection and beneficial usage for his clients.

Jon was a founding partner of Sunstone IP, PLLC (2014-2018) and prior to that Jon was a partner with Schmeiser, Olsen & Watts LLP in New York.

Jon resides in Lehi, Utah with his wife and six children. Jonathan enjoys spending time with his family, travelling, and serving as Scoutmaster in his local BSA unit.
